Why options venues restrict
Listed derivatives sit under exchange licenses, broker rules, and sometimes retail-product bans. US persons are commonly excluded from offshore options books. UK retail rules have bitten leveraged products. On-chain venues add token and frontend geo fences that can differ from the smart-contract layer.
This is why Match exists as a directory with geo notes — so you research access before you KYC a dead end.
How OptionsMatch shows it
Each venue profile has restricted/available catalog regions and a short note. /countries maps the same idea by jurisdiction. Find-venue can include a catalog-region step (US/UK/EU/SG/Other) that ranks editorial geoAccess — skip it if you do not want that filter.
US as a catalog region currently flags many seed venues as restricted because that is how those venues describe themselves. An empty US list is honesty, not a bug.
KYC is a different step
Passing a geo fence still means identity, sometimes proof of address, sometimes entity documents for a company account. Retail versus institutional products can live on different entities of the “same” brand.
Never send documents to anyone claiming to be support in a DM. Official site, official email.
On-chain is not a loophole lecture
Self-custodial venues still geo-restrict frontends and still have token terms. Wallet connection is not anonymous magic. See on-chain-venue-safety and cex-vs-onchain-options.
If a stranger says “VPN and you’re fine,” that is not OptionsMatch education — that is someone else talking.
What we will not tell you
We will not tell you to misrepresent residency. We will not certify that a product is legal for you. We will not complete KYC. Research directory plus your own counsel.
Affiliate hops do not change the legal analysis.
Practice this on OptionsMatch
/countries, /v/{slug} geo blocks, /find-venue region step, then the venue’s own terms. Educational access research only.
Not legal advice.
